You may already be using the Rational Robot software ® and the SQABasic language to automate

testing of your Web site and/or Web-based applications. This article shows you how to enhance

functional testing (verifying operational functions and features) by using the Rational tools in

conjunction with Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) and the Document Object Model (DOM). Of

course, you’ll still need to test the compatibility of your site and/or applications with the

different browsers used by your customers. But if you can apply a test strategy that separates

functional testing from cross-browser presentation (“look and feel”) testing, you’ll be able to

follow the suggestions in this article to experience the power and ease that using IE and the

DOM can offer.
